Because of the loss of housing in the city of New Orleans, the Covington real estate market has seen an increase in demand. Located about 50 miles north of the city of New Orleans, Covington did not experience the amount of damage from Hurricane Katrina. Covington real estate does not have the supply that is needed to meet the demands of the people wishing to move into the area. High demand and low supply is a real estate investors dream come true. Since the number of buyers for Covington real estate outnumbers the number of sellers, those investors that already hold Covington real estate have already seen substantial gains.
In recent months, houses have sold extremely fast. The average time on the market is between ten and thirty day. This provides a turnaround that is fast enough for an investor to seek after additional property in Covington real estate to invest in. Recent selling prices have begun to increase around 15% to 20%.
